Partners and Related Links
Within the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, IWEGA plays a crucial role in terms of catalyzing and coordinating research and training activities on water economics and governance issues.
IWEGA establishes links with the main National Departments concerned with water management issues in Mozambique and in the SADC region, as well as with regional and international organizations through their regional offices.
IWEGA is one of the NEPAD Water Centers of Excellence and is a member of WaterNet, the regional network of 70 education and knowledge Institutes in Southern and Eastern Africa offering joint education, training and research in the field of Integrated Water Resources Management. Since 2010 IWEGA is a key partner of the UNESCO Chair in Water Economics and Transboundary Water Governance based at ANU, Canberra.
IWEGA collaborates with international research centers and universities. This collaboration allows IWEGA to interact with other researchers, develop dialogue on issues related to their disciplines, and apply internationally for funding. Internationally renowned scientists are invited to do research, present seminars, teach courses and supervise students. Steps in this directions have already been made and Memorandums of understanding (MOU) have been discussed or will be initiated soon with the following institutions: Water Science and Policy Center (WSPC) of the University of California Riverside; International Water Resource Economics Consortium (IWREC); French Agricultural Research Center for International Development (CIRAD) (MOU signed); Joint Research Unit G-Eau (MOU signed); Center for Environmental Economics and Policy in Africa (CEEPA) at the University of Pretoria; Australian National University (ANU) Water Initiative (within the newly established UNESCO Chair).
